Trump is the only significant leader today who continues to publicly indulge in the delusion that man-made climate-change is not real. His decision to pull the US out of the agreement will see America join the exclusive club of the only two other countries in the world not party to the crucial deal: Syria and Nicaragua. Yes, it’s a heavy blow. But no, it’s not the end.

On May 20, 2017 at 9:18 AM Dr. Ivan Iliev Gadjev passed away. I have heard many times people say that a person’s life story is worth making a movie about them; this couldn’t be more true for my father.
Born on December 23, 1937, in the city of Nevrokop (Gotse Delchev), Bulgaria, his life was changed forever at the age of just six years old. His father, Ilia Todorov Gadjev, was arrested on September 9, 1944 when the communist partisans came down from the mountains and overtook 170 Bulgarian towns and villages. His father would never be let go. After a decision from the People’s Court, on the night of October 5, he was dragged to the mountains with 42 others, and was killed and buried in an unmarked grave. The remaining Gadjev family members – his wife Katerina, daughter Maria, son Zdravko, and my father were then labeled enemies of the State. They were told they needed to leave their home immediately and could take only what they could carry.

Vladimir Putin is a powerful ideological symbol and a highly effective ideological litmus test. He is a hero to populist conservatives around the world and anathema to progressives. I don’t want to compare him to our own president, but if you know enough about what a given American thinks of Putin, you can probably tell what he thinks of Donald Trump.
Let me stress at the outset that this is not going to be a talk about what to think about Putin, which is something you are all capable of making up your minds on, but rather how to think about him. And on this, there is one basic truth to remember, although it is often forgotten. Our globalist leaders may have deprecated sovereignty since the end of the Cold War, but that does not mean it has ceased for an instant to be the primary subject of politics.

There is no silver lining to be sought in the aftermath of the Turkish constitutional referendum, suggests Dimitar Bechev. Erdoğan thrives on polarisation: the pattern of labelling those who do not support him as ‘traitors’ will continue for the foreseeable future. The relative success of the ‘No’ vote in the big urban centres must have hurt Erdoğan, but the near 50 per cent who opposed the current president at the ballot box on this occasion are not a homogenous group and it would be a surprise if a viable opposition candidate emerges.

The choir singers, new generations of whom have joined The Mystery of Bulgarian Voices over the years and decades, are being chosen in Bulgarian villages. Apart from their voices, their beauty counts as well. Then they are being trained in the singing style the choir uses, which is centuries old. It includes a distinctive timbre and dissonant harmonies…

Bayer is one of the largest producers of agricultural chemicals, fertilizers, and pesticides. And Monsanto is one of the leading producers of genetically modified plants.[1] Together, these companies could have a total lockdown on what farmers put in their fields, the pesticides they use, what we buy in the shops, and ultimately put on our dinner tables.
If the merger is to be successful, the two companies must gain approval of competition authorities all over the world, including from the EU. Bayer has managed to “convince” Donald Trump to back the mega-merger [2], and now there is really only one organisation that has enough clout to stop the deal — the European Union.
We know that Margrethe Vestager, Commissioner for competition informally is already negotiating with Bayer behind closed doors. If we don’t act now this mega-merger could be a done-deal. That’s why we have to tell her to reject the deal now.
