Bulgarians living abroad should obtain the right to run and be elected Members of the country’s Parliament, was the topic of the press conference of the newly launched expat Association DA.
The Association Democratic Alternative (DA) was founded recently by two well-known Bulgarian-born French journalists, Roumiana Ougartchinska, and Bozhidar Chekov.

The site for investigative journalism Bivol.bg, official partner of WikiLeaks for Bulgaria, has received a statement from CRIM about the failed public hearing on the alleged criminal past of Bulgarian Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov.
The statement is signed by the Chair of the European Parliament’s Special Committee on Organized Crime, Corruption and Money Laundering (CRIM), Sonia Alfano, from ALDE, and Rita Borsellino, from S&D. With it, they explain that it is sent in connection with leaked information, published in Bulgarian and international media, wrongly presenting the closed-doors debate.

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Home sales in the state rose 23.7 percent over previous year levels, part of a 14-month run of sales increases according to data released today by the Illinois Association of REALTORS®.
Statewide home sales (including single-family homes and condominiums) in August 2012 totaled 13,264 homes sold, up from 10,721 home sales in August 2011. IAR has seen year-over-year increases since July 2011, and the data reflect a 7 percent gain over July 2012’s sales of 12,392 units.

Occupy Wall Street celebrated its one-year anniversary on Monday with a day of demonstrations that resulted in nearly 150 arrests but failed to produce the turnout or fervor that first propelled the movement into the national conversation.
The demonstrations attracted roughly 1,000 activists, down sharply from last fall, highlighting the challenge the movement has faced in trying to sustain interest in protesting against what it calls an unfair economic system.

On Sept. 11, Pastor Lindsey Williams, former minister to the global oil companies during the building of the Alaskan pipeline, announced the most significant event to affect the U.S. dollar since its inception as a currency. For the first time since the 1970’s, when Henry Kissenger forged a trade agreement with the Royal house of Saud to sell oil using only U.S. dollars, China announced its intention to bypass the dollar for global oil customers and began selling the commodity using their own currency.

Twenty applicants for US citizenship, including one Bulgarian, will be taken to new heights for their swearing in ceremony – the summit of Mount Washington.
US Citizens and Immigration Services is touting it as a first-of-its-kind naturalization ceremony on the highest peak in the Northeast of the USA.
