Census Bureau Projects: U.S. Population of 312.8 Million on New Year’s Day
As our nation prepares to ring in the new year, the U.S. Census Bureau today projected the Jan. 1, 2012, total United States population will be 312,780,968. This would represent an increase of 2,250,129, or 0.7 percent, from New Year’s Day 2011, and an increase of 4,035,430, or 1.3 percent, since Census Day (April 1, 2010).
In January 2012, one birth is expected to occur every eight seconds in the United States and one death every 12 seconds.

I was born just twenty years after we got rid of the Turks. 1898. So yes, this makes me seventy-one. And yes, I’m grumpy. I’m mean. I smell like all old men do. Bulgarians living abroad should obtain the right to run and be elected Members of the country’s parliament, was the topic of the round table organized in Sofia Wednesday.

Thursday marks the 31-year anniversary of the death of John Lennon. The legendary singer-songwriter was shot and killed Dec. 8, 1980, at age 40 in New York by Mark David Chapmanat the entrance to the building where he lived. The funeral Mass for Chicago’s former first lady has ended today November 28 in Chicago with mourners and political dignitaries greeting one another on the steps of Old St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
