Driven by a sincere effort to achieve legal redress for the crimes of communism and redeem the immense suffering that affected millions of citizens under totalitarian communist regimes, we request the legislative bodies of these countries and the authorities of the European Union to adopt effective legal norms that will allow just punishment of communist criminals and abolition of all benefits they still enjoy.

Scores of Bulgarian environmentalists gathered in downtown Sofia Saturday to protest against potential shale gas research and exploration in the country.
The activists demonstrated holding numerous signs under the sounds of music, shouting and handing out informational brochures to passerby.

Who are the Utigur and the Kutrigur tribes – on which there is so many accounts from 6th century chroniclers as Procopius of Caesarea, Agathias of Mirena, Menander, Theophylact Simocatta?
The scientific conclusion that the ethnonym “utiguri” refers to the Bulgarian ethnicity and that all information in the ancient Greek-language records referring the “utiguris”, are an integral part of early Bulgarian history, is backed up sequentially in the western and the Russian history science up until the midst of twentieth century.

The Bulgarian Union “Made in Bulgaria” bestowed Wednesday evening the annual “Golden Martenitsa” awards.

The growth of the Bulgarian economy in 2011 was 1.7%, announced the National Statistical Institute. The Ministry of Finance had forecasted a GDP growth of 2.8%. However, to the background of the overall situation is Europe, the results are not that bad. In the last three months of 2011 the GDP grew by 1.6% compared to the same period in 2010 and by 0.3% compared to the previous trimester. These figures place Bulgaria among the fast economic runners in Europe.
