  1. Sorry don’t want to be a party pooper, but etymology and history are not an exact science if fact both are not even a science at all.

Fact 1 – No Turkic DNA found in Bulgaria. You just don’t disappear.
Fact 2 – No Turkic language found in Bulgaria just some names.
Fact 3 – Bulgars said to have come from what is now modern Ukraine/Russia and Bulgarian’s speak a similar language coincidence?

Sorry to break it to you but Bulgarians are most likely related to ancient Thracians, Greeks mixed in with some Scythian.

  2. My greatgrandfather name was Atilla & I know from Him that Huns were actually Bulgar Descendants. In the village where they came from in Northern Bulgaria the Old Believes are that Atilla had pure Bulgarian Origins & people still celebrate Him like Well known historical Ruller.Atilla’s name even forbidden during communist rule era was very popular amongst locals. With the raise of democracy again the name become even more popular for newborns like it was before 1944.That’s what I know & believe that’s what I teach my kids & I named my 1st son Atilla.People’s memory came over the centuries is still alive & never lyes regardless what we were told at school.
