Tanya Melamed a multitalented pianist, singer and composer comes from a musical family in Odessa, Ukraine, where she graduated from the Odessa Conservatory of Music with an MA. After arriving to the US in 2001, Tanya has led her own ensemble “ Melamed Band,” which had been touring the US and Europe for 15 years.
Tanya collaborated with the numerous international musicians, which resulted in the production of her four CDs. Among those ensembles were Eyes Manouche (Balkan band), Guitarra Azul (octet of Latino style musicians), and the Maxwell Street Klezmer Band – just to name a few.
Since 2014 she has been singing and leading dancing with the Maxwell Street Klezmer Band – the Midwest Premier Klezmer Band.
Alex Koffman received his Masters Degree from the Conservatory of Minsk in Belorus. In 1990, after immigrating to America, Alex studied with Albert Igolnikov of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Alex joined Maxwell Street Klezmer Band in 1990 and soon after became its Musical Director and composer.
In 2008, Alex was the featured soloist in the world premier of Klezmer Rhapsody in Preston Bradley Hall at the Chicago Cultural Center, which was presented again in Symphony Hall in 2014 with Chicago Sinfonietta. In 2015, Alex was featured in Lyric Opera of Chicago’s World Premier Klezmer Opera, The Property. Alex is featured on four of the band’s commercial recordings and has toured with the band nine times in Europe and in Carnegie Hall. Alex is the leader of two Chicago- area community bands and The Junior Klezmer Orchestra.
Anna Kusner is a classical guitarist. After her graduation from the State Gnessin Music College in Moscow, Anna Kusner worked several years at the Moscow Philharmonic Society in a duo with Natalya Novoselova, a singer from the Bolshoi Theater, performing Russian art songs. In 1995 Anna graduated from the Academy of Music in Jerusalem. After that Anna performed with several chamber orchestras and ensembles, appeared on Israeli TV and Radio, as well as at many music festivals. Anna recorded 16 CDs. For 20 years Anna taught classical guitar at the Conservatory of Haifa, the Conservatory of Nesher, at the School for the Arts „Reut“, at the Bar Ilan University (Tel Aviv district).
